Since September 2021, Ballymacrickett Primary School have been working in partnership with four other countries; Spain, Turkey, Slovenia and Greece on a project, titled ‘Animal Assisted Education’.
This project enables us to witness first-hand the holistic benefits of using animals within schools whilst being able to share local cultures.
Our P5 children have already been participating in equine therapy. We are also looking forward to welcoming our own hamster to our school after mid-term.
In a recent trip to our partner school in Turkey, Miss McCormick and Mrs McAllister had the opportunity to see how they use their four cats and fish to help nurture children within the educational setting.
