Area and Perimeter in P5
Primary 5 Get Measuring Outdoors!
Primary 5 pupils put their knowledge of area and perimeter into practice during a hands-on lesson outside. Using the football pitch, groups worked together to measure distances and apply their understanding in a real-life context.
Working in teams, the children used trundle wheels to measure the length and width of the pitch. They then used their maths skills to calculate the perimeter (the distance all the way around) and the area(the space inside)
There was great teamwork, problem-solving and plenty of discussion as pupils checked their measurements and worked out their answers together. It was fantastic to see everyone so engaged and applying their classroom learning to a real-life situation.
Well done, Primary 5 👏
